Tax Exempt Orders

VERY IMPORTANT FOR FIRST TIME TAX EXEMPT BUYERS:

We are unable to issue credits after an order is submitted, please read below and submit the documentation before placing your order.

If you are a resident outside the state of Virginia (both your billing/shipping info) or if you are a Virginia Resident and are taxable you do not need to do anything!

For Virginia Residents (i.e. where your billing and/or shipping address is within Virginia first time purchaser who is a qualified tax exempt for purchases you may set up an account online first then contact us with instructions on how to submit your exemption status. Once we review and verify this information we can change your account type over to tax exempt where you will not be charged tax.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however this is a one-step process which once you are setup as nontaxable each order you place afterwards will be tax exempt.

Who qualifies for tax-exempt purchases?


Within the State of Virginia, schools, non-profit organizations, public charities, churches and other religious organizations generally qualify for tax-exempt purchases under federal law. Private businesses, chambers of commerce, notary publics, social and recreational clubs generally DO NOT qualify for tax-exempt purchases. NOTE: orders with billing and shipping outside the state of Virginia are treated as non-taxable.

What types of purchases qualify?

Any purchase typically subject to sales tax that is intended for the sole use of a qualified organization (see above) can qualify as tax exempt.

How do I make a tax-exempt purchase?

If you are a Virginia resident and qualify for tax-exempt purchases, you will need to set up an account if you wish to purchase online. We will need to adjust the settings of your account so that you will not be charged sales tax after we have received and verified your tax exemption status. If you previously had a log in account with our old website, the tax-exempt rights might have transferred over but not in all cases. If it did not, you will need to contact us and send us your updated tax-exemption form.

If this is a first time purchase or we need to re-enter your tax-exemption information, please contact us (Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30p.m. EST) to set up or adjust your account. If you have already made a purchase and did not take these steps to be set up for tax exemption purchasing then the day you place your order to request a billing adjustment. After you complete your order, please email or fax a copy of your tax-exempt status so we can keep that on file.

  • Your order number
  • Acceptable proof of exempt status
  • Mark your fax or envelope “Attn: Tax Exempt”

Please Note: If you are a tax exempt entity you MUST submit the proper documentation to us AT THE TIME OF ORDERING, we are unable and will not issue credits for taxes weeks AFTER the order has been fulfilled. We are required by state law to have the appropriate documentation (tax exempt forms) or we are required (by state law) to charge sales tax. We are unable to issue credits after an order is submitted.
